The mid transom was designed to help scaffolds get around obstacles and create openings & planked bays that otherwise would not have been reachable. Mid transoms are a key component to making a fully planked deck and easily getting around permanent structures. Install one side of the mid transom over the top of the horizontal. Use the wedge on the opposite side to secure the mid transom into position and keep it from sliding.
